Early Eocene Approximately 55 Million Years Old Quite rare first species of fossil Parotodus (that would lead to the large P. benedeni teeth in the Plio/Miocene) from the phosphate pits in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Teeth from this species are not as large as the later species averaging between 3/4" and 1" in size. All are complete and in good condition with minor damage at most. Some will exhibit small rounded sidecusps while others have no cusps (typical of the species - anteriors generally have no cusps while laterals will).
